Lord Howe Island Accommodation and Travel Information
This small island 500km east of Sydney offers rainforests, coral reefs, beaches and towering volcanic peaks. It was placed on the World Heritage List in 1982, which has meant any new development is strictly controlled and the number of tourist beds is pegged at 400. As well, residents are banned from owning cats and about two thirds of the island is defined as permanent park reserve.
