At the heart of Australia's Red Centre is the oasis town of Alice Springs, the town they call "The Alice". Accessible by road, rail and air, it caters for thousands of both international and domestic tourists with first-class accommodation and restaurants, a casino, and an amazing diversity of adventure activities.

Alice Springs is the ideal base from which to explore the region's many natural wonders, including Uluru (Ayers Rock), the Olgas and Kings Canyon. Closer to town, the natural gorges and waterways of the MacDonnell Ranges provide countless opportunities for bushwalking and taking in the distinctive desert flora and fauna. Alice Springs was established as a hub for European settlement during the building of the overland telegraph line in the mid-1800s, but has maintained strong links with its Aboriginal heritage. Evidence of the ancient culture can be found in art sites, rock carvings and artefacts.
