Things to Do in Darwin & Surrounds

• Crocodiles
  See enormous saltwater crocodiles basking, fighting and feeding at Darwin Crocodile Farm (40km south of Darwin on the Stuart Highway) and Crocodylus Park (McMillans Road, Berrimah).
• Territory Wildlife Park
  Experience the wildlife of the NT with 400ha of natural habitats including a nocturnal house and walk-through aquarium.
• Kakadu National Park
  World Heritage listed and one of the major tourism icons of the Top End, this vast area has escarpment, wetlands, wildlife, birdlife, waterfalls and some significant Aboriginal rock art sites.  
• Litchfield National Park
  Just an hour’s drive from Darwin, Litchfield Park is a day trip for swimming in spring-fed pools and waterfalls, viewing the monsoonal rainforest and magnetic termite mounds.
• Adelaide River
  Located 112km south of Darwin, this was the site of a major WWII Australian and American military base and now has many wartime reminders including the War Cemetery, Snake Creek Ammunation Depot, Pell Airfield and the Railway Station Museum.
• Arnhem Land
  Visitors must obtain a permit visit what is now one of the last wilderness areas on earth and tribal home to the Yolgnu Aboriginal people, who have lived in this remote and pristine part of Australia for over 60,000 years. 
• The Tiwi Islands
  Bathurst and Melville Islands are just 80km north of Darwin with clear waters, sandy beaches and lush forest, and are rich in indigenous culture. Only accessible by guided tours, day trips offer an opportunity to glimpse the unique blend of Aboriginal, Tiwi and Indonesian traditions.
• Gove Peninsula
  Where the Gulf of Carpentaria meets the Arafura Sea, this scenic area with long sandy beaches, azure waters and tropical vegetation has some of the best sport fishing in the world.
