Ayr Travel Guide

Ayr accommodation, Ayr activities and attractions, Ayr maps, transportation to and around Ayr - the ALL NEW Jasons Ayr Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Ayr.

Ayr is the major town for the bountiful Burdekin district – one of Australia's richest sugar and horticultural regions. Spanning the Burdekin River south of town, the 1097m long Burdekin River Bridge, known as the Silver Link, is the longest bridge of its type in Australia. The region is situated on a vast natural underground aquifer which is artificially replenished with water from the mighty Burdekin Falls Dam.

As well as being a fisherman's paradise, it also has excellent opportunities for birdwatching with over 280 species recorded in the Burdekin region. Each year Ayr and Home Hill celebrate their relationship with the river and the land with the Water Festival held in September in Ayr and the Harvest Festival held in November in Home Hill.
