Biggera Waters, a booming tourist destination, is located on the beautiful
Gold Coast Broadwater, which stretches from
Southport to Paradise Point in
Queensland.
Once a farming and fishing village, Biggera’s main draw card is it’s enormous shopping centres including Australia Fair in Southport, Harbour Town in Labrador and Runaway Bay Shopping Centre. There are also a number of dining areas located within the Shopping Centre and along the Broadwater.
The waterfront promenade, which starts at Biggera Waters and continues south to Southport has attractive parklands and is ideal for walking and cycling. Biggera Creek flows through the middle of the suburb, and just off the shores of Biggera Waters is Wave Break Island, which marks the entrance of the Gold Coast Seaway.
The name Biggera comes from the native Yugambeh language meaning red iron bark tree.
