Bowen Travel Guide
Bowen accommodation, Bowen activities and attractions, Bowen maps, transportation to and around Bowen - the ALL NEW Jasons Bowen Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Bowen.
Visitors are attracted to Bowen for its beautiful sandy beaches (which have won several awards) and for the great fishing and boating opportunities. Bowen is as close to island living as you will get on the mainland. It is one of the only places that the reef grows so close to the shore that you can snorkel out from the beach and view coral and tropical fish. Bowen's thriving fruit and vegetable growing industries also attract hundreds of people from all parts of the world in the picking season.
With easy access to the Great Barrier Reef, a beautiful coastline for walking and recreational activities, lovely parklands shaded by towering mango trees and a nationally rated nine-hole golf course, this is the ideal seaside holiday town. Mullers Lagoon, a picturesque 23 hectare garden and wetland, is a birdwatchers' paradise with over 170 different species being sighted in the area. It is also historically significant as north Queensland's earliest settlement, established in 1861, and named after Queensland's first governor.
