City Hall Art Gallery and Museum
A guided tour of the City Hall Art Gallery and Museum, which has a permanent museum collection and changing exhibits of local art. Open daily, except public holidays, from 10am-5pm, with tours (fee applies) at 10am and 2pm weekdays and 10am on Saturdays.
South Bank Parklands
A beautifully landscaped riverside park with restaurants, cafés, cinema complex, a beach and swimming lagoon. Markets on Friday nights and weekends.
Queensland Cultural Centre
Home to the Queensland Art Gallery, Queensland Museum, Queensland Performing Arts Centre and the new Queensland Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) – Australia’s largest art gallery dedicated to modern art.
Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre
Adjacent to South Bank and the Cultural Centre, and handy to the thriving cafe precinct of West End.
Brisbane Botanic Gardens
The city's first public garden, Brisbane Botanic Gardens, a tranquil green oasis along the Brisbane River, ideal for picnics and family gatherings and a popular setting for weddings. Features of the gardens are the mangrove boardwalk, and the Riverstage Amphitheatre, an outdoor concert venue with grassy slopes leading down to a large stage.
Roma Street Parklands
The largest tract of subtropical rainforest in a city.
Fortitude Valley / New Farm
The historic Fortitude Valley / New Farm area, just north of the CBD, with restaurants, cafes, art galleries and New Farm Park, which has an excellent children's playground. There is also a popular Saturday market held in the Brunswick Street Mall.
CityCat ferry
A ride on the CityCat ferry, a pleasant way to see the inner city area from the Brisbane River. The ferry services both commuters and tourists, with regular stops at various points of interest.
Riverside
The riverside walk and cycle paths which link the Story Bridge, the Botanic Gardens, the South Bank precinct and the riverside suburbs.
Café culture
The café and coffee shop precincts of Park Road in Milton, Hamilton and West End, also noted for their boutique shopping.
Mt Coot-tha Lookout
Extensive views from Mt Coot-tha Lookout, which also has a café, restaurant and picnic ground and can be reached by car, bus or the City Sights Tour. At the foot of the mountain are the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, with botanical feature areas, groomed lawns, lakes and rainforest, a teahouse and a planetarium.
Early Street Historical Museum
The Early Street Historical Museum in Norman Park. A living museum, it recreates early Queensland and colonial life through historic buildings which have been sensitively preserved.
Sporting venues
Excellent sporting venues including the famous 'Gabba' cricket ground, now also home to the Brisbane Lions AFL Club, ANZ Stadium and Suncorp Stadium.
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, accessed via the Centenary Highway west of the city, or the Brisbane River. Reputedly Australia's first koala sanctuary, it is a popular destination for families and overseas tourists, with picnic grounds and Australian animals including koalas and friendly kangaroos.
Amazons Water Park
A day of fun and excitement at the waterslides and pools of Amazons Water Park.
Boondall Wetlands
The Boondall Wetlands which cover an area of 730ha north of the city. Visitors are catered for with graded walking tracks, interpretive signage, bike ways, guided walks and a visitors centre display. There is access for boating and canoeing via ramps at Nudgee Beach and Shorncliffe.
Brisbane Entertainment Centre
Brisbane Entertainment Centre at Boondall, the venue for national and international concerts and sporting events.
Stones Corner
Shopping for bargains at the seconds shops at Stones Corner.
The Australian Woolshed
A typical Australian experience at The Australian Woolshed at Ferny Hills. Located about 20 minutes by car from the CBD, it features the popular Ram Show, which includes a shearing demonstration, spinning display and working sheepdog demonstration, as well as Friday and Saturday night bush dance dinners.
