Brisbane Arts and Entertainment

Brisbane's arts scene has at its hub the Queensland Performing Arts Complex at South Bank. Another cultural precinct is the Powerhouse Centre for the Live Arts at New Farm, which features innovative performances in two theatres.

Brisbane is also a city of galleries – Brisbane City Gallery has contemporary exhibitions in a variety of mediums, Customs House Gallery has changing exhibitions featuring mostly Queensland artists, while the larger Queensland Art Gallery displays a permanent collection of Australian, Aboriginal, European and Asian artworks. Also located at South Bank, the Queensland Museum has natural history exhibits as well as the folk history of Brisbane's indigenous and European settlers, and an aviation section featuring Bert Hinkler's plane Avian Cirrus. Punters can try their luck at the Conrad International Treasury Casino. Open 24 hours a day, it is located in a restored historic building in the city.
