Bundaberg Beaches Travel Guide
Bundaberg is the best beach area between the
Sunshine Coast and
Gladstone. Head east from Bundaberg via the canefields to reach the Bundaberg Beaches, where along with surf and sand you can also find turtles at the right time of the year.
The beaches here –
Bargara,
Woodgate,
Burnett Heads, Innes Park,
Coral Cove and
Elliott Heads – are noted for their good surfing, sailing and wind-surfing. All are stinger-free and are patrolled by surf lifesaving clubs throughout the season. This area also offers the most accessible marine life experiences in
Queensland, with the fringing reef systems of the Woongarra Marine Park, Mon Repos Turtle Sanctuary, an artificial reef just offshore and
Lady Elliot Island just a short flight away.To the north,
Moore Park Beach provides 21km of golden sandy beach. Further north the coast is most appealing for its lack of development with spurs from the main road leading to the communities of
Miara, Norval Park,
Agnes Water and
Town of 1770, named in honour of Captain Cook's landing here on 24 May 1770.
