Cunnamulla is the largest town in the Paroo Shire in far western Queensland. The town came into existence as a coaching stop for Cobb and Co in 1879 and it is still linked to transport as the railway terminus for the line south from
Charleville.
Its success as a service centre for the huge grazing properties in this part of Queensland is mostly due to the continuous water supply from the broad Warrego River on which it stands.
