Gladstone Travel Guide
Gladstone accommodation, Gladstone activities and attractions, Gladstone maps, transportation to and around Gladstone - the ALL NEW Jasons Gladstone Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Gladstone.
Gladstone, with the deepwater harbour and port facilities of Port Curtis, is one of Queensland's most prosperous seaboard cities. The city's development has stemmed from the presence of the world's largest single aluminium refinery,
Queensland Alumina Limited, and the proximity of the almost inexhaustible coal supplies in the hinterland.
For tourists Gladstone is the gateway to a diverse region with golden beaches, freshwater playgrounds and numerous national parks and untouched coastal areas. It is also a stepping-off point for the Great Barrier Reef and its islands, with some of the best fishing and scuba diving in the world. As well as being renowned for its wide range of accommodation, from international standard hotels to backpacker hostels, Gladstone is famous for seafood at its best, notably the Gladstone mud crab.
