Hamilton Island Travel Guide

Hamilton Island accommodation, Hamilton Island activities and attractions, Hamilton Island maps, transportation to and around Hamilton Island - the ALL NEW Jasons Hamilton Island Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Hamilton Island.

Tropical Hamilton Island is the largest inhabited island of the beautiful Whitsunday Islands, a collection of drowned mountains in Queensland, Australia.

Four and a half kilometres long and three kilometres wide, this tiny island is recognised as the most commercially developed but also one of the most luxurious resort destinations on the Great Barrier Reef. Despite this, over 80 per cent of Hamilton Island remains in its natural state with walking trails to Coral Cove, Passage Peak and Escape Beach. Beyond the resorts the whole area is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and the uninhabited islands are all controlled by National Parks and Wildlife.

Only 45 minutes by water taxi from Shute Harbour, Hamilton Island is perfect for day trips, with over 40 different activities to enjoy including bushwalking, go karts, mini golf and snorkelling. Hamilton Island is the only island in the Whitsundays that has an airport big enough to cater for larger commercial aircraft. Hamilton Island is also catered by several ferry services, which can only carry passengers.
