Hervey Bay Travel Guide
Hervey Bay accommodation, Hervey Bay activities and attractions, Hervey Bay maps, transportation to and around Hervey Bay - the ALL NEW Jasons Hervey Bay Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Hervey Bay.
Famous as one of the world’s whalewatching capitals, Hervey Bay is just a 40 minute flight north of Brisbane, Queensland. Majestic humpback whales migrate through Hervey Bay’s warm waters from July to November, and local tours afford a unique opportunity to experience their antics and awesome size right up close during the whale watching season. The curious whales routinely approach, swimming right up to say ‘hello’. Several tour vessels are equipped with underwater microphones, viewing windows and cameras.
Back on land, Hervey Bay has all the ingredients of a perfect family holiday. You can take a stroll along Hervey Bay Esplanade, which hugs the north-facing beaches and winds its way around the picturesque foreshore to the Urangan Pier and marina. There are 40km of pristine beaches for seaside fun, new shopping complexes and marinas, charters for cruising, diving or fishing, or you can take a boat ride or scenic flight across to the Fraser Island – the world’s largest sand island. Hervey Bay enjoys a warm, sub-tropical climate, with a maximum average temperature of 22°C in winter.
