Hook Island Travel Guide
Hook Island accommodation, Hook Island activities and attractions, Hook Island maps, transportation to and around Hook Island - the ALL NEW Jasons Hook Island Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Hook Island.
Hook Island is a largely uninhabited and rugged sub-tropical Island, part of the
Whitsunday group, located on the east coast of
Queensland,
Australia.
Hook Island is the perfect destination for visitors looking for a close up encounter with the Australian wilderness and wanting to avoid the tourist buzz and glitz often associated with the more developed Whitsunday Islands.
The island is noted for its spectacular fringe reef diving and snorkelling amongst colourful underwater coral growths, immediately offshore but if visitors prefer to keep their feet dry, the observatory on Hook Island allows visitors to descend nine metres below the ocean to view coral, reef animals and plants in their own habitat.
Hook Island’s only resort is the low key Hook Island Wilderness resort, set on the edge of 58 square kilometres of Australian national Park. Camping is permitted at several sites around the Island.
