Lake Eacham Travel Guide

Lake Eacham accommodation, Lake Eacham activities and attractions, Lake Eacham maps, transportation to and around Lake Eacham - the ALL NEW Jasons Lake Eacham Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Lake Eacham.

Lake Eacham is an extinct volcanic crater lake filled with crystal clear water, surrounded by 1200 acres of lush tropical highland rainforest on the Atherton Tableland of North Queensland. Now a popular tourist lake, Lake Eacham and the nearby Lake Barrine, were formed 12,000 years ago by molten magma. The lake is unusual in the fact that it is unaffected by drought - the lake is fed by underground springs so it maintains a constant water level.

Lake Eacham is the focal point of the Lake Eacham National Park which reaches 1,210 acres – thousands of small animals and marsupials have made this rainforest their home.  The lake is the perfect place for an afternoon dip or canoe, and no motor boats are allowed on the lake. There is a circuit walk around the lake that takes around 45 minutes.
