  • Mapleton Falls National Park main attraction is the point where Pencil Creek turns into a spectacular cascade, plummeting off the western escarpment of the Blackall Range into the Mary Valley. A viewing platform has recently been opened and this is the best place to appreciate the Mapleton Falls.
  • Another highlight for visitors to this small but important remnant of hinterland forest is the Obi Obi Valley.
  • Check out Mapleton Lillyponds which are home to native water birds. Originally created by a local resident it is now the perfect place for a picnic.
  • Spanning over 380 hectares, Lake Baroon features a 2.4km walking track which leads into the Obi Obi Gorge along a scenic rainforest trail.
  • Close by is Kondalilla Falls National Park which cascades 90m into the valley below. Set on 327 hectares of National Park, there is a walking track that takes visitors 2km up the hillside from the Falls.

  • Mapleton also hosts the annual Yarn Festival where spinners of tall tales and true gather to celebrate the art of the Aussie Bush Balladeer.
