Moffat Beach, located south of
Dicky Beach on the
Sunshine Coast,
Queensland, is the only beach in
Caloundra offering protection from the strong southeast winds, due to its northern facing direction.
Moffat Beach was named after James C. Moffat, a chemist from Brisbane, who established a holiday house in 1883 on Moffat Head.

Moffat Beach is known for its kilometres of white sandy beaches and associated parklands and it’s an ideal place for families, due to its surf and still water. Nearby Tooway Lake is an ideal spot for calm water swimming, but the beach is also popular with surfers. The heavy barrelling wave that takes place when there is a solid swell with a light westerly has been compared to a pipeline – however, this spot should only be surfed by a seasoned wave rider. There are also BBQ facilities at Moffat Beach and the nearby cafes and shops are a three minute stroll.
