Moreton Bay is Brisbane's shorefront. Named by Captain Cook after the Earl of Moreton, it is a vast expanse of water sheltered by the major sand islands of Bribie, Moreton and North Stradbroke, with scores of smaller islands creating a labyrinth of waterways to the Gold Coast.
