Queensland, is an area of great natural beauty, characterised by panoramic views, mountain villages and hectares of dense rainforest. Located 62kms from
Brisbane, directly west from
Surfers Paradise, Mount Tamborine is mounted on the most northerly plateau that stretches from the Queensland/New South Wales border.
Mount Tamborine is a geological phenomenon – a result of an outpouring of lava from Mount Warning. Nine National Parks with quiet streams and attractive waterfalls encircle the mountain escarpments that are dotted with examples of the rainforest that once covered this area, namely Australian Red Ceder.
Four bitumen roads wind their way up the mountain spurs leading to the three main villages that service the Mount Tamborine area - an eclectic mix of art galleries, antique shops, wineries boutique shops, plant nurseries, and tearooms.
The rich volcanic soils also support a diversity of horticulture. This fertile area once produced commercial citrus fruits, vegetables and milk, but now produces mainly avocados, kiwifruit, rhubarb and cut flowers exported directly to overseas markets.
