The township of Tiaro is located between
Gympie and
Maryborough on the beautiful
Fraser Coast in
Queensland,
Australia. First settled in 1840’s, sheep farming proved unsuccessful for the settlers in Tiaro due to dingoes and wet ground conditions so the land was farmed for sugarcane and cattle - both which remain important for the towns survival today.
With the picturesque Mary River meandering through the town, and close access to
Fraser Island, Tiaro is a pleasant stop off and visitors will find a number of historic hotels that are a fine example of Australian country architecture. Petrie Park, located north of Tiaro township, offer a boat ramp, toilets, BBQ's and camping areas.
