Tolga Travel Guide

Tolga accommodation, Tolga activities and attractions, Tolga maps, transportation to and around Tolga - the ALL NEW Jasons Tolga Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Tolga.

Tolga is a charming country town on the Atherton Tablelands in Tropical North Queensland. The town was originally called Martintown, and grew out of a Cobb and Co staging post at Rocky Creek -  the current name Tolga means red mud in the local Aboriginal language. There is not a huge amount to attract the visitor to Tolga, but the Tolga Scrub on the southern side of town is exceptional as being one of the last remaining areas of Mabi rainforest on the Atherton Tablelands, which is the most drought resistant type of rainforest in Australia. Tolga is a very fertile farming area that produces fruit, potatoes, maize sugar cane and peanuts.
