Hahndorf
Hahndorf is Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement, with many examples of classic Bavarian architecture and shops selling typical German foodstuffs, art and craft.
• The Australian National Motor Museum
  Located at Birdwood, the Australia National Motor Museum is considered one of the best in the world with over 300 cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles. More than a museum, this fascinating collection provides a social history of Australia’s road transport with unique stories about the owners, drivers and designers, and those who made and sold them.
• Warrawong Sanctuary
  A 32ha private property near Stirling has been turned into a haven for endangered mammal species; visitors can see bettongs, pottoroos and quolls in their native habitat with guided walks.
• Belair National Park
  The eighth oldest national park in the world, Belair is one of Adelaide’s most popular with walking trails through the eucalypt forest, ornamental lakes, picnic spots and tennis courts. It is also the location of Old Government House, built in 1855 as the governor’s summer residence.
• Cleland Conservation Park
  Stretching from the foothills to Mt Lofty, the Cleland Conservation Park has excellent bushwalks, picnic areas and Waterfall Gully. A major attraction is the Cleland Wildlife Park with numerous species of Australian fauna.
• Strathalbyn
  This designated heritage town on the banks of the Angas River has Scottish ancestry, evident in its architecture which includes the magnificent St Andrews Church Tower. Many of the historic buildings have been recycled as antique shops and galleries.
• Mt Lofty
  The highest point of Adelaide’s backdrop ranges is Mt Lofty. At 727m it offers fine views of the city and surrounds. Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens feature temperate plants such as rhododendrons and magnolias.
