Carrick Hill was built in 1939 in the style of a late Elizabethan English manor house. It contains a priceless art collection, porcelain, fine old silver, and 17th century oak furniture. The grounds display magnficient rose beds and visitors can enjoy relaxing walks with spectacular views over the city. Open Wednesday through to Sunday and public holidays from 10am-5pm (house closes 4.30pm). Closed July and Christmas Day. Admission prices $9 adult, $6.50 concession (includes students), children under 5 years free, $23 family ticket (2 adults + 2 or more children). Guided tours of the house take place at 11.30am and 2.30pm. Separate tours can be arranged for groups of 20 persons or more - bookings essential. Gift shop - a wide selection of quality merchandise is for sale. Exhibitions - ongoing programme of changing exhibitions and displays in the upstairs gallery area. Coffee shop - open for morning and afternoon tea and light lunches. Funcitons - Hire Carrick Hill for your garden party, wedding reception, dinner or other function.
