Bronte Park is midway between
Hobart and
Queenstown, close to the geographic centre of
Tasmania. Once a construction town for the Nive River hydro-electric scheme, it is now a holiday village set amongst rolling mountains, with crystal clear waterways and an abundance of wildlife. Its location in the midst of excellent trout fishing lakes makes it a perfect base for fishermen, kayakers and bushwalkers. The original Hydro Electric Commission huts have been recycled as the Bronte Park Highland Village with chalets, a hostel and store and a licensed picnic ground.
