Historic village with an interesting convict museum.
21km South-east of Sorell, 50km North-east of Hobart
Copping is a charming village located on the Arthur Highway in the heart of an orchard district. Its history dates back to the early 1800s and has been preserved with an amazing collection of convict-era relics at its Colonial Convict Exhibition.
Visitors can sample some of the region’s famous gastronomic delights – wine, venison, quail, seafood and now truffles from beneath its walnut trees. The Wielangta Forest Drive between Copping and Orford has sweeping ocean views and opportunities to spot rare parrots among the tall eucalypts. To the south at Eaglehawk Neck there is excellent surfing, game fishing and scuba diving.
