Things to Do in Heritage Highway

• Richmond
  This is Tasmania's most important historic town, famous for its Georgian architecture. It contains Australia’s oldest freestone road bridge, the oldest Roman Catholic Church and the best-preserved convict gaol.
• Ross
  The pride of this historic village settled in 1812 is the 1836 convict-built Sandstone Bridge with its intricately carved arches. The main crossroads of the town are said to represent the four characters of life: Temptation (Man O’Ross Hotel), Recreation (Town Hall), Salvation (Catholic Church) and Damnation (Gaol, now a residence).
• Oatlands
  Oatlands has over 150 original sandstone buildings, the largest number in an Australian village. Much of the stone used in the town’s buildings was quarried from the shores of Lake Dulverton, a man-made lake next to the town, which is now a wildlife sanctuary.
• Longford
  Settled by farmers from Norfolk Island, Longford is admired for its typically English country landscape and its well preserved convict-built architecture. Two of Tasmania’s premier estates, Brickendon (1824) and Woolmers (1816) are a short drive from town.
