Strahan Travel Guide

Strahan accommodation, Strahan activities and attractions, Strahan maps, transportation to and around Strahan - the ALL NEW Jasons Strahan Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Strahan.

Gordon River Cruises © Tourism Tasmania and Ron Brown Strahan lies at the heart of Tasmania's World Heritage-listed wilderness, on the north-west shores of beautiful, unspoiled Macquarie Harbour. Strahan is the gateway to one of the world’s last true wild river systems and the stunning Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park and Southwest National Park. Strahan provides a full range of accommodation and amenities for the many visitors who come to experience this rugged wilderness area.

Strahan is a very pretty town, with wonderful Federation buildings constructed from Huon pine and a fascinating cemetery. You can take a tour of the expansive Henty Dunes to the north, walk along the 30km Ocean Beach, and visit the infamous Sarah Island, Tasmania’s most brutal penal settlement.
