Weldborough Travel Guide
Weldborough accommodation, Weldborough activities and attractions, Weldborough maps, transportation to and around Weldborough - the ALL NEW Jasons Weldborough Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Weldborough.
Weldborough was established as a support town for
Tasmania’s tin mining boom in the late 1800s. It is believed to have had the largest Chinese community of any tin mining town in
Australia – the Chinese outnumbered the Europeans – and had its own joss house and Chinese casino. The Chinese burial plot at the local (Moorina) cemetery is well worth a visit. Also deserving of a visit is the heritage-listed Welborough Hotel (built in 1886 and previously known as the All Nations Hotel), if only to experience the unique menu items. A few kilometres from town, the Welborough Pass rises to 595m, offering superb views and an awesome display of tree ferns on either side.
