Port Campbell is a crayfishing village and seaside resort located in the centre of Port Campbell National Park and the spectacular Great Ocean Road. This small windswept town in the middle of Victoria's Shipwreck Coast is set on a natural gorge that provides the only spot along this stretch of coast where boats can be safely moored.
The town was established as a base for sealers and whalers and has grown into a service centre for the masses of tourists travelling the Great Ocean Road, with a number of motels, cafes, takeaway food outlets and a pub. At the end of the inlet is a pleasant sand beach, one of the few places along this violent coastline that is suitable for swimming.
