Things to Do in Southern Wonders

• National Parks and Reserves
  This area has 43 of the state’s 89 national parks and reserves, protecting a diversity of landscapes, flora and fauna, and providing walking trails and opportunities for a range of outdoor pursuits.
• Blackwood River Valley
  Rolling farmland dotted with historic towns, charming tea rooms, and guest houses, quaint craft shops and boutique wineries. There are numerous walking trails, the best known being the Bibbulmun Track walks and the Kondil Park Wildflower Walk.
• Margaret River Wine Region
  Western Australia’s premier wine region enjoys international renown, with more than 60 wineries between Busselton and Augusta. 
• Yallingup
  One of WA’s oldest tourist destinations, Yallingup is famous for its excellent surfing beach, historic Caves House and Ngilgi Cave. 
• Albany
  The site of the first European settlement in WA, Albany is situated around one of the world’s most beautiful deep-water harbours, visited by ships from all over the world, as well as dolphins, seals and whales. The numerous attractions range from spectacular beaches to art galleries and Albany’s historic whaling station, which lives on as the fascinating interactive museum “Whale World”.  
• The Gloucester Tree
  Climb to the top of the world’s highest fire lookout – 153 spiraling rungs to a viewing platform 60m above the forest floor at Pemberton.
• Limestone Caves
  Located on Caves Road between Margaret River and Augusta, the four famous limestone caves (Mammoth, Moondyne, Jewel and Lake) provide a range of interactive and adventurous underworld experiences.
• The Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk - Walpole
  Explore the world-famous forest of giant tingle trees from 40m high in the canopy, along a walkway that has gained international acclaim for its innovative design. On the forest floor a signposted boardwalk leads visitors through a grove of tingle trees known as the Ancient Empire.
• The Porongorup and Stirling Ranges
  Walking tracks leading to spectacular views from the ancient peaks of these ranges also provide trekkers with access to hundreds of species of birds, wildlife and flowers. The Stirling Ranges rise to over 1000 metres and provide the only alpine walking in WA.
• Esperance
  Characterised by spectacular coastal scenery, isolated pristine beaches and a temperate climate, this is one of WA’s fastest growing tourist destinations. The surrounding Recherche Archipelago consists of nearly 200 coastal islands and has clear water for divers and snorkellers to view the myriad marine life. Other wildlife includes seals, dolphins, whales, emus and sea eagles.
