Mangaia Travel Guide

Mangaia accommodation, Mangaia activities, attractions in Mangaia, Mangaia maps - the ALL NEW Jasons Mangaia Destination Travel Guide is your complete Mangaia travel information source.

Mangaia (pronounced Mahng-aia) is the southernmost and second largest island of Cook Islands. Believed to be the oldest island in the Pacific, the island’s outer rim consists of ancient Makatea (fossilised coral cliffs). The erosion of this old limestone has resulted in remarkable rock formations and vast caverns, some kilometres in length. Guided tours can take you to see these amazing caves.

Mangaia's shallow lagoon is rich in colourful tropical fish. Fishing tours on the reef and offshore will keep anglers entertained. Other activities include rock climbing, diving in the deep freshwater caves and trail bike riding. Guided four wheel drive tours are also available. This destination is for those who enjoy the outdoors and appreciate simplicity tranquillity and some adventure. Mangaia is 45 minutes by air from Rarotonga. Travel to Mangaia and discover one of the oldest islands of the South Pacific.
