Built as a high-class bordello and casino for Arab sheiks, the resort opened in December 1988. Lagoon Resort is set in 3 acres of landscaped grounds between an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Jr. golf course and the canal leading to Beqa Lagoon. Lagoon Resort is quite unique for Fiji and more like 'Raffles Hotel' in Singapore. It is set in Fiji's most elegant, exotic and romantic location. Sixteen prime ministers held their Pacific Islands Forum Leaders' Retreat here in 2002. In 2003, the movie 'Anaconda 2' was produced here and its 'Bloody Mary' boat is now a bar. The resort specialises in the adventure market with the world's best bull shark-feeding dive shop on site. Fishing and golf can also be enjoyed from the Resort and there is access to the longest, safest and best beach in Fiji. Kiwi owners Heather & Jim Sherlock are the hosts.
