Volcanic in origin, rugged Vanua Levu ('Big Land') is
Fiji's second largest island. With its mountainous interior, coconut plantations and lush rainforest, Vanua Levu is often described as the 'real' Fiji, and traditional culture and customs still thrive in the villages. Vanua Levu's many bays are ideal for kayaking, while the offshore fringing reefs offer some of Fiji's best snorkelling and diving.
Vanua Levu offers a range of

activities. The main visitor centre on Vanua Levu is the southern town of
Savusavu, overlooking beautiful Savusavu Bay. Outside of the main centres of Savusavu and
Labasa, the villages are small with little or no visitor facilities.
