With its beautiful coastline, rainforests, swaying canefields and beachfront resorts, Viti Levu is the largest of Fiji's 332 islands, and boast a great range of
activities and
accommodation. The south of Viti Levu is more heavily populated and is home to the national capital of
Suva, where bustling shops, restaurants, markets and a lively nightlife await visitors. West of Suva,
Pacific Harbour is purpose-built for tourists with luxury villas and an arts village. On the west coast of Viti Levu, the booming town of
Nadi is a mecca for duty-free shopping, while
Denarau Island forms the gateway for travel to Fiji’s stunning
Mamanuca and
Yasawa groups.
Viti Levu's
Coral Coast, stretching from Yanuca (outside Nadi) to Naboutini near Suva, is a popular resort area, with white sand beaches and a magnificent coral reef. The northern part of Viti Levu is less populated with a mixture of canefields, rainforests, mountain ranges and sweeping plains. Two hours north of the sugar capital of
Lautoka, the unspoilt area of Sun Coast-Rakiraki combines the lush tropical climate of the east coast with the sunshine of the west.
Rakiraki, at Viti Levu’s northernmost tip, is the gateway to the islands of Nananu-i-Ra and
Vanua Levu.
