Islands of Yasawa

  • Nanuya Lailai (Mystery) Island
The western side of the lovely Mystery Island is the location of the famous Blue Lagoon Beach – a popular destination for cruise boats and yachts. Nanuya Island Resort offers guided diving and snorkelling trips.
  • Yaqeta Island
The peaceful island of Yaqeta has magnificent white sand beaches and secluded bays. Navutu Stars Resort offers boutique accommodation.
  • Waya Island
With its steep hills and lovely lagoons, Waya Island is perfect for bushwalking and snorkelling. There are four villages on the island, and fine views of the entire Yasawas group from the top of Yalobi Hills.
  • Wayasewa Island (Little Waya)
Wayasewa (Little Waya Island) has great beaches and coral reefs. The main village of Naboro has a spectacular setting, backed by high grassy hills. Visitors can participate in a meke (dance performance) and kava ceremony.
  • Kuata Island
A small island with striking rock formations, caves and coral cliffs on its southern side, and good snorkelling near the shore.
  • Tavewa Island
Tiny low-lying Tavewa (3km long) has good swimming beaches and snorkelling. Savutu Point at the island's southern end has the island's best beach. There are several budget resorts.
  • Naviti Island
Rugged Naviti is one of the largest (33sq km) in the Yasawas group, and the highest. The most popular attraction is a snorkelling site where you can swim with manta rays.
  • Nacula Island
Volcanic Nacula is the group's third-largest island, with excellent beaches and snorkelling, as well as hiking trails and village visits.
  • Matacawalevu
Just 4km long, this hilly island has two villages and is flanked by the sweeping Nasomo Bay on its east coast. There is good snorkelling, and a reef drop-off on the island's western coast.
  • Turtle Island (Nanuya Levu)
This privately owned island has sandy beaches and steep volcanic cliffs. Parts of the film Blue Lagoon were filmed here, and the island's luxury resort is one of the country's best.
  • Sawa-i-Lau Island
This limestone island is famous for its huge domed cave, which has an underwater passage into an adjoining chamber. The cave walls bear ancient paintings and inscriptions.
  • Yasawa Island
Yasawa is the northern-most island of the group and has one of Fiji's most exclusive luxury resorts. The lodge has its own airstrip.
