Listing Details
A voyage through the history of navigation in the Pacific. This museum opened in 1999 inside the surrounding wall of Port Autonome. Its basis is a thrilling inventory of about 40 shipwrecks that have sunk on the reef; a long and exacting labour carried out over several years by the Fortunes de Mer (Fortunes of the Sea) Association. 3000 years of maritime history, from the first navigators to the present day. The biggest wooden rudder in the world. The extraordinary Laperouse collection. Exhibitions change throughout the year. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am-5pm.
