• Akaroa Village
  Stroll around Akaroa village and soak in the French atmosphere. The nineteenth century architecture, quaint shopping village and mouth-watering cafes are a delight to explore.
• Around Akaroa
  Venture further afield and explore the surrounding countryside where you can visit enjoy wineries, mountainbiking, horse trekking, fishing, kayaking, boating, golf and scenic walking trails.
• The Peninsula
  Within Banks Peninsula there are the remains of a whaling station, sawmill and historic Maori pa sites. There are also gardens, farms and historic houses open to the public.
• Beaches
  Akaroa has its own swimming beach with other beautiful beaches within thirty minutes at both Okains and Le Bons Bays.
• Wildlife
  The rare Hector's dolphin calls Banks Peninsula home, and there is the opportunity to take a cruise or even swim with the world's smallest dolphin. Penguins and fur seals also frequent the peninsula.

  The museum includes exhibitions on Akaroa's Maori history, French settlement, and a 20 minute film on Akaroa History.
