Riverside Cottage is an historic cob cottage originally built in1861. Over the years it has been extended but still retains its old world charm. With its one and a half acres of rambling cottage garden, Riverside is the perfect relaxing stop on your trip, or a few days break away from the city. 45 minutes drive north from Christchurch and on the edge of the fast growing Waipara wine area it is situated well for exploring this region. Day trips to Hanmer Springs hot pools (one hour) or Kaikoura Whale Watch (one and a half hours) Many of the wineries offer exceptional food and wine tasting experiences and the award winning North Western Cafe is only five minutes away.
Other activities in the area include horse trekking, cycling, hiking and the friendly beach side Amberley Golf Course is only a 10 minute drive away. Or just relax with a book under a tree in summer or in front of the fire in winter.
The upstairs bedroom with views over farmland to the hills has a super-king bed which can be split into two super singles if required and has an ensuite with shower and toilet. There is an adjoining small room with double bed suitable for children or a third person.
The large downstairs bedroom has a queen size four poster bed, working open fireplace, and a bathroom with shower and bath.
Children are welcome, portable cot and extra bedding available. Other amenitites include Sky TV in lounge, access to tea and coffee making facilities, laundry facilities, phone, fax and internet including email,
full breakfast served when and where requested.
