Central Auckland Queen Street Auckland's main shopping street is lined with clothing boutiques, souvenir shops, banks, arcades, restaurants and other businesses. If you like exploring, pop down some of the side streets and alleyways like Vulcan Lane. You'll find some interesting stores tucked away, including bookshops and art galleries.
High Street One of the city's most popular shopping strips, packed with designer boutiques, florists, cafés, nightclubs, bookshops and bars. It's particularly lively at night, when many of the bars offer live jazz, especially during the weekend.
Chancery
Auckland's only pedestrian shopping street features chic restaurants with outdoor terraces, European-style boutiques and classic New Zealand designer stores - all in one vibrant area.
O'Connell StreetThis boutique district features fashions from the country's top designers all within a latte of each other. Check out Feline, Dunedin's Tanya Carlson, Karen Walker, Zambesi and Morrison Hotel.
Karangahape Road One of Auckland's oldest shopping areas, 'K' Road has a vibrancy all of its own. By day, it's a colourful shopping area with ethnic stores. By night, it's popular with nightclubbers and doubles as a red light district.
Ponsonby Road Another of Auckland's more alternative shopping areas, lined with great cafés, restaurants, designer boutiques and hairdressers. It's popular with weekend brunchers and most shops open on Sundays as well.
Village Shopping
Parnell One of Auckland's more popular shopping areas, the colonial-style buildings house a range of specialty and boutique shops, and there are stacks of great cafés and restaurants.
Victoria Park MarketSeven day, village-style shopping with more than 25 stores, cafes and restaurants, and a Kiwi Walk of Fame.
NewmarketSouth of the CBD, is Newmarket, New Zealand's fashion capital.... Where the very best in fashion style and design is celebrated every day.
Mt Eden Mt Eden village is another quaint shopping spot. The gift and curio shops contain all sorts of unusual items and it's a popular brunch area at the weekend.
Remuera One of the city's wealthier suburbs, Remuera has a range of exclusive designer stores, giftware shops and cafés.
Devonport This seaside village is of special interest for curio and souvenir hunters, with its galleries, craft and antique shops. There are shops in the complex at Devonport Wharf, along with several cafés offering great seaviews.
Clevedon South of Manukau in the Clevedon Valley, this pretty rural town is known for its cafés, crafts and souvenir outlets, with a market day on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.

Central Business District In the central city, Atrium on Elliot and the Downtown shopping complex at Queen Elizabeth Square offer boutique shops, cafés and food courts.
St Lukes For one-stop shopping, try the Westfield Shoppingtown St Lukes, which boasts a full range of specialty stores and cafés.
Auckland Airport
Choose from a huge range of tax and duty-free specialty stores.
Dress-Smart OnehungaDress-Smart is Australasia's largest factory outlet centre with everything from fashion and footwear to books and music.
Botany Town Centre (Howick)East of the city is the city's largest and newest complex, Botany Town Centre, with cafés, shops and specialty stores.
Sylvia ParkAuckland's newest shopping complex, Sylvia Park is New Zealand's biggest mall with many retailers unique to the centre.
Shopping Hours Most shops are open 9am to 5.30pm on weekdays, with many offering late night shopping on Thursday or Friday. Saturday shopping normally runs from 9am until 1pm, although many shops stay open all day. Sunday shopping is becoming more widespread.
Duty Free Most specialty and duty free shops are open seven days a week and stock a comprehensive range of New Zealand goods. Visitors can pay for goods at these shops and then pick them up at the airport when leaving the country.
