Clyde Travel Guide
Clyde accommodation, Clyde activities and attractions, Clyde maps, transportation to and around Clyde - the ALL NEW Jasons Clyde Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Clyde.
Scenically located beside the mighty Clutha River, Clyde is one of the historic goldmining towns of
Central Otago. Its charm today lies in its old world atmosphere, with many of the stone buildings and mining cottages dating back to the gold-fever days of the 1860s.
Since the 1980s, the town has been dominated by the giant Clyde Dam, located just to the north of the township. Two museums, Clyde Historical Museum and Clyde Station Museum, capture the local history. An appealing climate - low in rainfall and high in sunshine - adds to the town's charms. To the south of Clyde lies
Alexandra, famous for its Blossom Festival, while to the to the north are
Cromwell, the Kawerau River and the adventure centre of
Queenstown.
