Collingwood Travel Guide

Collingwood accommodation, Collingwood activities and attractions, Collingwood maps, transportation to and around Collingwood - the ALL NEW Jasons Collingwood Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Collingwood.

The Nelson region's northernmost settlement, Collingwood is near a number of fine sandy beaches and forms the starting point for 4WD safaris to the northernmost point of the South Island, Farewell Spit. The spit was named by Captain James Cook, and was the last land he sighted after leaving New Zealand for Australia at the end of his first voyage in 1770. Collingwood is built on the site of an old Maori pa, and is the gateway to the vast Kahurangi National Park – a haven for hikers which incorporates the famous Heaphy Track.
