As you head west from
Christchurch, you'll come across Darfield - a town with amazing views of
Mount Hutt and the Torlesse Ranges. Darfield is close to five different skifields so there are plenty of options if you enjoy skiing or snowboarding. The beautiful Waimakariri and Rakaia rivers are nearby and perfect for fishing - 29 species of fish have been found in the Waimakariri although the most common are salmon, brown trout and rainbow trout.
