Dargaville accommodation, Dargaville activities and attractions, Dargaville maps, transportation to and around Dargaville - the ALL NEW Jasons Dargaville Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Dargaville.

Dargaville township on the Wairoa River, NorthlandSituated on the banks of the Wairoa River, Dargaville is the Kauri Coast's largest settlement and famous as New Zealand's Kumara Capital. Dargaville is a good base from which to explore the region's attractions, such as the magnificent kauri forests, the beautiful Kai Iwi Lakes, the vast stretch of west coast beach and the historic Kaipara Harbour.

Dargaville was once an important river port, vital to the export of kauri timber and gum. Its pioneer history can be discovered at Dargaville's excellent Maritime Museum, or take a leisurely trip on the river down to the Kaipara Harbour along the once busy trading route. Fishing charters also operate from Dargaville to the Kaipara Harbour. Further north of Dargaville are the giant kauri trees at Waipoua Forest and Trounson Kauri Park, while to the south is the award-winning Matakohe Kauri Museum.
