This early 1900s cottage has been lovingly restored to reflect a bygone era. The Cottage is tucked in amongst bush and trees and has plenty of atmosphere. The decor is quite simple and features the odd piece of original New Zealand art and numerous curiosities from yesteryear - cake tins, old scales, interesting old bottles among them. Over the road from the secluded cottage is Broad Bay. Plenty of birdlife, beach walks and swimming (when the weather permits). Your hosts live nearby on the peninsula. They are responsible for the scrumptious basket of ingredients for breakfast which is delivered to your cottage during the afternoon for the next morning (please order on booking). Further sustenance is available a short drive away in Portobello. The peninsula on which The Cottage is located, is a wildlife treasure with its penguin, albatross and seal colonies which are unique and can be visited any time of the year. Larnach castle is well worth a visit and is just a 5-minute drive away.
