Duvauchelle sits at the head of
Akaroa Harbour, divided from Barrys Bay by the Onawe Peninsula. Walkers will find a delightful track here that is easy to navigate and has lovely harbour views. If you're keen on golf, be sure to put in some practice at Duvauchelle's 18-hole golf course. Regarded as one of the most scenic in New Zealand, it has beautiful views over Akaroa Harbour.
Duvauchelle is just a five minute drive from Akaroa, an historic village first settled by the French back in 1840. You can head here to enjoy the French charm, pavement cafes and historic tavern. If you're feeling fit, tackle the Banks Peninsula Track. This 35km hike starts near Akaroa and provides stunning views as it winds its way around the coast over rolling hills.
