Fairlie Skifields
The town of Fairlie is close to two skifields:
Fox Peak One of Canterbury's less-known ski areas, located 34km north of Fairlie and operated by the Fox Peak Ski Club. Powder snow and valleys stretch for 385ha, making it as large as Mt Hutt.
Facilities include:
- Lift passes – full day, all lifts.
- Lifts – 3 Rope Tows, 1 Fixed Grip Learners Tow.
- Ski hire. Skis and snowboards can also be hired from the Ski Shack in Fairlie.
- Ski school.
Mount Dobson
Located a 40 minute drive from Fairlie, this ski area covers 240ha of skiable country. The access road is 15km long and suitable for both buses and motorhomes. Chains can be hired from the Ski Shack in Fairlie.
Facilities:
- Lift passes.
- Lifts – T-Bar, Learner Platter Lift, Access Platter lift, Beginner Rope Tow.
- Ski hire – 300 sets of skis, including carving skis, and 50 snowboards with protective equipment. Skis and snowboards can also be hired from the Ski Shack in Fairlie. Limited clothing hire available.
- Ski School – Eight qualified instructors offering private and group lessons for skiers and snowboarders of all levels.
- Grooming – Two Kassborher groomers maintain trails regularly.
- Largest learner/intermediate slope in New Zealand.
- Natural half pipe.
- 3km wide basin with 14 runs.
- School programmes.
- Special deals for groups.
- Beginners packages.
