Things to Do in Hastings

• Wineries
  The region's popular wine and food festival, Harvest Hawke's Bay, takes place over the first weekend of February, drawing thousands of visitors. Local wineries to visit include Sileni Estate, Vidal Estate, and CJ Pask, Te Awa Winery, Trinity Hill, Ngatarawa Wines and Huthlee at Flaxmere; Clearview and Kim Crawford at Te Awanga; and at Havelock North, Te Mata, Akarangi and Lombardi. • Cape Kidnappers
  One of the world's most accessible mainland gannet colonies. The birds are best seen from November to February (the sanctuary is closed June-October). Gannet Beach Adventures offer a range of options or you can walk the 8km (each way) along the beach from Clifton, when the tide is right. The visitor centre has tide times.
• Hawke's Bay Exhibition Centre
  The region's venue for art, craft, science and history exhibitions, featuring local and regional artists.
• Splash Planet
  New Zealand's first fully themed waterpark. Highlights include the double dipper dual tube ride, go karts, train rides, a flying fox, a miniature castle and hot pools.
• Heritage of Hastings walk
  A self-guided tour of the city's historic buildings, which include art deco architecture dating back to the 1930s. A leaflet is available from the Hastings Visitor Information Centre.
• Frimley Rose Garden
  A display of more than 5500 roses and rare species of trees.
• Pernel Fruitworld
  A working orchard offering tours, fruit tasting, a museum and a gift shop.
• Arataki Honey
  Discover the world of the honeybee, with honey tastings and a retail outlet.
