Cape Kidnappers
Cape Kidnappers is one of the largest and most accessible of mainland gannet colonies. The Australasian gannet has a wing span of up to 2 metres and weighs in at an average of 2kg. Aerial antics and dramatic dives into the sea to catch fish are all part of the display. The best time to visit is between November and late February. Chicks hatch early November and by May they are ready to migrate to Australia.
Operators offer a range of tours, from guided walks through to 4WD safaris.
