Things to Do in Hicks Bay

• Fishing
  There is good fishing in the area from the beach as well as boats, in rocks and even scuba fishing. For some real excitement you can fish the ocean deep continental shelf, just 15 minutes from Hicks Bay. December to May are the best month to go fishing when there are heaps of mackeral, kahawai, tuna and game fish.
• Maori pa sites
  Hicks Bay has been occupied for over 1000 years and you can visit historic Maori pa sites in the area.
• Bushwalking
  There are many scenic bush walks in the area offering stunning views through native bush.
• Surfing
  Hicks Bay offers a sheltered beach break with consistent surf. Summer has the best surf conditions and is unlikely to be crowded even when surfs up.
