Kaitangata accommodation, Kaitangata activities and attractions, Kaitangata maps, transportation to and around Kaitangata - the ALL NEW Jasons Kaitangata Destination Travel Guide is your complete visitor guide for Kaitangata.

The little town of Kaitangata, with a population of less than 800 people, is nestled on the banks of the Clutha River, 10km south of Balclutha.

The early settlers came to the region around Kaitangata in the 1800s to set up, and work in, coal mines. An open cast mine still exists in Kaitangata today and the coal is used throughout Otago and Southland. There are also various sites of mines that are no longer in use.

There are various activities you can take part in on the the Clutha River such as boating, fishing or white baiting.
